Director - Riaan Veldtmann
Riaan Veldtmann Riaan grew up in the northern suburbs of Cape Town, and completed his schooling at Stellenberg High School in Durbanville. After completing his Bachelors degree in Accounting at the University of Stellenbosch, Riaan proceeded with his articles at LDP auditors in Durbanville, and at the same time managed to study part time and obtain his Honours degree through UNISA. He enjoys all forms of sport, especially rugby, cricket and golf and loves travelling abroad. Riaan has been with Village & Life since 2006.

Rooms Division Manager - Michelle Kocke
Michelle Michelle grew up in Gauteng and attended Witbank High School, after matric she went to Durban to further her studies. Michelle later joined Sun International for 9 years and was based at the Wild Coast Sun.

During this time she also obtained her Skippers ticket and her Dive Masters certificate and after leaving the Wild Coast she moved on to Mozambique to make her hobby her job, and dived nearly every day for one and a half years.

On returning to South Africa she moved to Cape Town where she was the Executive Housekeeper at the Commodore and Portswood for 3 years, Michelle then joined Gatsby International as Rooms Division Manager  and was based at the Lanzerac Hotel & Spa but also went to several countries like Swaziland, Namibia and Nigeria to assist with Hotel projects. She was also the Contact Manager for Prestige Cleaning at the Southern Sun Waterfront for 2 years.

Front Office Manager - Lize Swart
Lize van der Westhuizen Lize matriculated at Bellville High in 2001 after matriculating she studied Hotel Operations & Management with IHT- Institute for Hospitality Training in 2002 and did her in-house training with Legacy Hotels & Resorts, Portswood and Commodore Hotels. She furthered her career within Legacy Hotels & Resorts from a Trainee to Assistant Front Office Manger till February 2008. In June 2008 she left South Africa and did some travelling in Britain, whilst travelling she worked in various hotels in Wales and Scotland. She started at Village & Life as Assistant Front Office Manger in August 2009 and got promoted to Front Office Manager in May 2010. She also likes socializing with her friends and family and loves animals and the outdoors.

Head Chef - Brian Smit
Brian Smit Brian discovered his passion for food when he started as a kitchen porter whilst travelling through Europe.  After returning to South Africa he trained at top class restaurants in and around Cape Town such as The Garden of Africa in Stellenbosch, The Railway House in Muizenberg and The Brass Bell in Kalk Bay.  In 2006 he partnered a friend in opening the very popular Noisy Oyster Restaurant in the West Coast town of Paternoster.  He joined The Bay Hotel in 2011.

Brian is adventurous in his cooking, combing French cooking techniques with local produce, and a slight Asian twist.  His menus are inventive as they change daily incorporating fresh, local and organic produce where possible, and every dish is freshly prepared.

Reservations Manager - Carla October
Carla October

Carla was born in Cape Town and matriculated at Ned Doman Senior Secondary School. She worked from 1998 – 2004 in Time Share sales at Club Resorts International, joining Village & Life in March 2004. Carla started off as a receptionist and now heads the Reservations Department. Carla likes to unwind by socializing after a hard day’s work.

Executive Housekeeper - Chantel Crowie
Chantelle Crowie

Chantel Crowie was born in Mowbray and later attended Plumstead High School. She started in the hotel trade after school, at a company that makes uniforms for hotels. She then moved on and worked at The Cullinan Hotel, when they opened. She has been with The Bay Hotel for 8 years now and takes great pride in her position as Executive Housekeeper. Chantel's greatest joy is in meeting new people and perhaps this is why she is dedicated to the hospitality industry.

Spa Manager - Ayesha Ebrahim
Ayesha Ebrahim

Ayesha was born in Retreat, in Cape Town and matriculated in 2002 at Grassy Park High in Cape Town, completing a Certificate in Entrepreneurship the same year through College of Cape Town, as an extra matric subject. In 2002, Ayesha obtained a Diploma in Media Studies and Journalism at Rosebank College, Cape Town. She worked at various places and did a short internship at Glamour Magazine before joining Village & Life in November 2005. Ayesha started off as a receptionist at Camps Bay Retreat. She was part of The Bay Hotel reservations team and the sales department. Ayesha loves taking long bubble baths to unwind and enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

Facilities Manager - Frans Tredoux
Frans Tredoux Frans Tredoux matriculated at Strand High in 1995 and went on to study at the Cape University of Technology where he earned a National Diploma in Horticulture in 1998 (cum laude). Frans' vision is to create functional workspace and effective environments through the integration of multiple disciplines combining his passion for the environment together with his love for indigenous plants to develop sustainable natural environments.

Sales and Marketing Executive - Sarah Martin
Sarah Martin Sarah grew up in the Stellenbosch area, matriculated from Somerset College and went on to obtain her Honours in Marketing at Stellenbosch University. She has worked in the marketing department of various FMCG companies such as British American Tobacco and Edward Snell and further keeps herself busy with some part time modeling. Sarah joined Village & Life in October 2011. She currently resides in Sea Point, has a keen interest in the fashion industry, stays fit by attending the occasional ballet class and enjoys cocktails at Sandy B after work with her friends.

Hotel Accountant - Chris van Greunen

Chris van Greunen

Chris grew up in Klerksdorp in the North West province, and matriculated at Wesvalia High school. After matric, he went to Potch University and completed his B-Comm. degree in 1989. He also completed 2 three year financial diplomas. In 1987 he joined the Correctional Services and stayed with them for ten years. After leaving them in 1997, he worked at various hotels and companies, with the latest, The Palace of the Lost City, Sun City. He started at The Bay Hotel in December 2010.

Chris lives in Brackenfell with his 17 year old son. He also has a 20 year old daughter, studying Performing Arts & Drama in Pretoria. He is an enthusiastic tennis player, and still plays league tennis for Brackenfell tennis club. In his free time, he likes to watch sport on TV and also enjoys reading.
