The history of Muratie is almost as old as the history of South African wine itself. The magic and the mystery of this legendary estate were born in 1685. Muratie has 42 hectares under vine, specialising in Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Chardonnay. The excellence of the wines has been recognised in numerous awards that bear testimony to the winemaking philosophy of one of South Africa’s top wine estates.

In the heart of the Western Cape’s prime winemaking region, surrounded by magnificent vistas and complex history, lies a stylish young winery. Everything here reflects an ethos of excellence and an approach of innovation and artistry. Tokara’s wines are distinctive and sophisticated, its first vintages being the Zondernaam wines. This range consists of a Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz and a Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vriesenhof wine farm lies nestled between the Stellenbosch and Helderberg mountains, in the magnificent Paradyskloof Valley. The Vriesenhof range consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinotage and a small block of Pinot Noir. Respected winemaker Jan Boland Coetzee produces three diverse ranges of wine under the labels Vriesenhof, Talana Hill and Paradyskloof.

This private wine cellar, owned by Emil and Sonette Den Dulk, is an irresistible invitation to indulge in every one of the five sensory delights: sight, sound, touch, aroma and especially the taste of its flagship wine, Fusion V. De Toren lies on the sun-drenched Polkadraai Hills overlooking False Bay, with the magnificent Stellenbosch Mountains as its backdrop. The De Toren range consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot.

Rijk’s is a winelands getaway, set on the outskirts of the historic and picturesque Tulbagh Village just over an hours drive from Cape Town. Rijk’s Private Cellar planted their first vines in 1997 and 2000 was their first harvest. The total production is twelve thousand cases per harvest of which 50% is sold locally and 50% exported.

The home of Fairview wines is a 300ha farm on the south-west-facing slopes of Paarl Mountain, a granite rock outcrop in the heart of the Paarl wine district, viticulturally among the most historic and influential areas of the Cape winelands. Standing among the lavender beds in the terraced front garden of the winery, you’ll look out across rolling fields and see distant flat-topped Table Mountain standing guard over the city of Cape Town, South Africa’s tourist Mecca. The Fairview range consists of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Voignier, Rose and Pinotage. Wine lovers can also enjoy cheese tasting at the popular cheesery.

Klein Constantia lies on the narrow Cape Peninsula that juts into the South Atlantic Ocean, some 20 km from Cape Town. Klein Constantia specialises in Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Marlbrook and Vin de Constance. They also produce Rhine Riesling plus small amounts of Pinot Noir and Shiraz.
